Glenwood Lutheran Church was designed to express the total concept of worship through art and architecture. This is not just a building that houses a congregation for worship; this is a church that speaks to us of the skyward reach, that inspires us to worship and worships with us. Gospel in Glass is portrayed in our windows; the Word in Wood is portrayed in the rich carvings and Music for the Master is embodied in our wonderful pipe organ.
Our Altar window is the "Great I Am" window, delineating the seven "I Am" words of Christ from the Gospel of John and one passage from the Book of Revelation. The nave windows depict the life of Christ in Symbols, following the narrative theme of the Church Year. The faceted window in the balcony forms Luther's Seal. In the transept and lighted by night, is the Ascension scene to complete the theme.
All windows are of mouth blown imported stained glass, and painted art has been employed only when necessary to form a figure or outline a symbol. Thus, they are quite unique. Because we have used true stained glass, on a bright day our church interior is constantly changing its appearance due to the rainbow of color cast by the windows.
